National Festival of Making 2024 - Cyanotypes with Obscura Collective

For the past two years (23-24) I've led a drop-in Cyanotype Sun-printing workshop as the Obscura Collective at the National Festival of Making in Blackburn. The workshop was attended by over 200 people each year, with participants creating their own Anna Atkins inspired 'blueprints' to take home with them.

Prints are pre-coated with a UV sensitive chemical mixture. Participants use a mixture of natural materials to create the designs for their prints, laying them in a frame. Using UV torches to mimic the sunlight, participants then expose it for a few minutes before washing it in water, revealing the final result!
